WeatherCall® ToGo with Lightning: Stop wondering "How close is too close?"
Lightning is extremely dangerous, killing an average of 58 and injuring over 300 people in the US each year. When thunderstorms develop, outdoor activity participants are at risk of being struck. Organizers of any type of outdoor activities are supposed to be familiar with the "Flash-to-Bang" rule used to estimate how close a strike is:
Start to count seconds when a lightning flash is seen-
if the thunder happens BEFORE you count to 30,
the strike is less than 6 miles away and you are
at risk of being struck.
Unfortunately, this "Flash-to-Bang" rule is often used incorrectly or not at all.
Your 1st WeatherCall ToGo with Lightning notification: Take shelter!
WeatherCallToGo with Lightning alerts your mobile phone if lightning strikes within the 6 mile protective zone which is automatically created when you register your temporary location with our notification system. Based on the successful WeatherCall personal storm warning technology, when a strike is detected within this protective zone, you receive a phone message, or email or SMS text notification that a lightning strike has been detected with a recommendation that activities be halted and safe shelter is found.
Your 2nd WeatherCall ToGo with Lightning notification: All clear!
Either 15 or 30 minutes after the last strike is detected in the 6 mile protective zone (this is based on whichever setting for the "all clear" duration you have chosen), WeatherCallToGo with Lightning will notify you that it appears to be safe to resume activity. If more storms develop producing lighting, you will receive a new notification and monitoring is re-started.
WeatherCallToGo with Lightning performs optimally on iPhone and Android platforms because of their support for touchscreen mapping.
